Jim Keller's Tenstorrent Raises 1.5 Billion Dollars to Scale Its Open AI Chips

A technician's hands slide a Tenstorrent Galaxy AI server, with its geometric vented front panel, into a data center rack.

Tenstorrent, the AI chip company led by veteran processor designer Jim Keller, said on Monday that it has closed a 1.5 billion dollar Series E funding round at a 6.2 billion dollar post-money valuation. The figure more than doubles the valuation the company reached in December 2024, and it ranks among the largest single raises by an independent AI chip startup this year.

Anthropic Commits 5% of Its Shares to a New Public Benefit Fund

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei speaking at a World Economic Forum panel against a blue forum backdrop.

Anthropic said on Sunday, October 18, that it will commit 5% of its shares to a new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a wholly owned entity designed to direct a growing slice of the company's equity toward societal good. The commitment is subject to stockholder approval, and it arrives as the Claude developer confronts a question facing every major AI lab: who shares in the value that increasingly capable systems create.

Salesforce Says AI Agents Generated 88 Million Dollars by Reaching Leads Its Staff Could Not Handle

A photograph of Salesforce Tower rising above the downtown San Francisco skyline at dusk.

Salesforce says its AI agents have helped generate more than 88 million dollars in revenue by doing a job its sales staff simply could not keep up with: making first contact with potential customers who would otherwise have gone unanswered.

Anthropic's Clark Tells IMF AI Could Lift US Output to 44 Trillion Dollars by 2030

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center sign in Bangkok, the venue for the 2026 IMF and World Bank annual meetings.

Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark told government and finance officials in Bangkok on Saturday that artificial intelligence could expand United States economic output to 44 trillion dollars by 2030, almost 50 percent above its current level of just over 30 trillion dollars. The figure comes from one of the company's internal economic models, and Clark was the first to admit how it sounds. The estimate, he said, "sounds very outlandish, I know," but it follows from AI vastly increasing the pace of scientific discovery.

Claude Designs Quantum Circuits That Beat the Best Published Versions, Cutting Gates Up to 17-Fold

The gold chandelier-like interior of a quantum computer cryostat, showing its layered wiring and cooling stages.

Anthropic says its Claude Mythos 5 model has designed quantum circuits that improve on the best previously published versions, in some cases by an order of magnitude or more. In a research post published on October 16, 2026, the company reported that Claude, working in a closed loop with an automated evaluator and largely on its own, took on eight computational primitives — the basic routines from which larger quantum algorithms are built — spanning chemistry, optimization, quantum simulation, number theory and numerical computing.

China Proposes Export Curbs on 40 AI, Solar and Biotech Technologies

Workers in blue uniforms assemble a large solar cell module on a factory production line.

China unveiled a draft plan on Friday, October 16, to restrict exports of 40 cutting-edge technologies spanning artificial intelligence, biomedicine and solar manufacturing. The proposal, titled Announcement No. 48, came jointly from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Science and Technology, and it would place some of China's most valuable technical know-how under a formal export-control catalogue.

Meta Releases Muse Spark Open, an 816-Billion-Parameter Model That Runs on Two Mac Studios

Cartoon illustration of two desktop computers linked by glowing cables, jointly holding a sparkling network of colorful nodes shaped like a brain.

Meta released Muse Spark Open on Thursday, October 15, calling it the most capable United States open-weight model to date. Unlike a closed system that stays behind a company API, an open-weight release lets developers download the trained parameters, adapt the model, and run it on their own hardware. Meta is aiming this one squarely at coding and agentic work: long, multi-step software tasks that require reasoning, tool use, and sustained context rather than a single quick answer.

ASML Posts Record Sales and Warns AI Demand Will Outrun Its 2027-2028 Supply

Cartoon illustration of a smiling lithography machine printing glowing microchips on a conveyor belt while a long queue of small robots waits for more chips.

The company that makes the machines behind the world's most advanced chips just posted its strongest quarter on record, and its message to customers was blunt: even a faster buildout may not be enough to keep up with artificial intelligence demand.
